Step By Step Instructions for International Students

Application deadlines are JULY 15th for Fall semester, OCTOBER 15th for Spring semester and MARCH 15th for Summer semester. If you have any questions about the international student admission process, please contact Jacy Fry at jacy.fry@dsu.edu.

All students from abroad who wish to pursue an undergraduate degree at DSU are required to submit the following:

 

  1. Complete the application for admission at (https://apply.sdbor.edu/login.cfm)
  2. Pay required $20 application fee
  3. Complete transcripts (marks sheets) for high school/secondary and post-secondary levels AND graduation confirmation.
    • Official copies or certified (true) copies or your original documents are required showing a minimum of 2.6 GPA on a 4.0 grading scale and your class rank.
    • If your documents are not in English, they must be submitted to ECE (www.ece.org) for a "catalog match" course description.
    • Post-secondary (college/university) transcripts require course description in English to determine credit transferability. Course descriptions are NOT required for admission, but they should be sent prior to arrival.
  4. Verification of English Proficiency (unless applying for English Language Program, see below):
    • Submit official TOEFL or IELTS score appropriate to your level (undergraduate):
      • Internet Based TOEFL (iBT) = 79
      • Paper TOEFL = 550
      • Computer Based TOEFL = 213
      • IELTS = 6.5
      • PTE Academic = 53
    • Graduate from an American high school and have a minimum sub-score of 500 on both Critical Reading and Writing of the SAT or a minimum sub-score of 22 on the Writing/English of the ACT.
  5. If you are currently in the US on an F visa, please submit a photocopy of your current I-20.
  6. If available, please submit a copy of your passport to ensure accurate I-20.
  7. To provide the quickest receipt of your I-20, please include your Certificate of Financial Responsibility (CFR) with your application materials. See below for mailing address.
