College of Arts and Sciences

The College of Arts and Sciences offers a variety of programs and courses leading to many successful careers. Computer technology is integrated throughout all majors. The College offers the vast majority of the general education courses that serve as background for all degrees. Faculty in the arts, English, and social sciences are principally located in Beadle Hall. Math and science faculty are located in the C. Ruth Habeger Science Center. The clinical faculty in Respiratory Care are located at Avera McKennan and Sanford Health in Sioux Falls and at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City.

Liberal Arts

Programs within the Liberal Arts offer courses that prepare students for both teaching and non-teaching careers. Graduates are qualified in a wide range of professional areas, including English, English Education, Technical Writing and Publishing; Computer Graphics; Multimedia/Web Development; Speech Communication; and the Social Sciences, including History and Social Systems. Liberal Arts programs teach critical thinking skills and integrate computers in all programs, giving DSU Liberal Arts graduates a marketable advantage.

Math & Sciences

Math & Sciences offers B.S. degrees in Biology, Mathematics, and Physical Science (encompassing both chemistry and physics), as well as A.S. and B.S. degrees in Respiratory Care. Graduates go on to careers in business, industry, secondary education, and allied health services. In addition, students preparing for careers in engineering, medicine, veterinary science, dentistry, chiropractic, nursing and similar fields work with a faculty advisor to design and follow an appropriate pre-professional B.S. program in biology or physical science.

The clinical facilities and faculty for Respiratory Care are located at Avera McKennan and Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, and Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City. The classrooms, laboratories, and faculty for Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics are housed in the C. Ruth Habeger Science Center on the DSU campus.
