- 8 Plex
The 8 Plex apartment complex is a relatively new addition to Dakota State University (DSU). In each eight-plex, four rooms contain five residents and four rooms have four residents for a total of 36 residents per eight-plex. The complex is coed but the individual rooms are not. Only sophomores, juniors or seniors are allowed to live in them.
- Dakota Prairie Playhouse
Dakota Prairie Playhouse and Conference Center hosts plays, conferences, receptions, etc.
- DSU Fieldhouse
Trojan Fieldhouse is located two blocks north of the main campus. It is the home of the Dakota State Athletic Department.
- Community Center
The Community Center is a joint effort between Dakota State University and the Madison Community. This facility provides a variety of recreational programs to meet all interests.
- Trojan Field
Trojan Field is a football field, all-weather track, and lighted stadium.
- Mundt Library and Learning Commons
Karl E. Mundt Library and Learning Commons is named for a former South Dakota Senator. The library has a capacity of 120,000 volumes and is one of the finest libraries in the state.
- Science Center
The Science Center houses the College of Arts and Sciences Math and Science Departments.
- Physical Plant
The Physical Plant is located in the center of campus. It provides the energy and maintains the grounds for the entire campus. The Physical Plant is responsible for enforcing the rules and regulations concerning parking on campus.
- Smith Zimmermann Museum
Smith-Zimmermann Museum contains articles and memorabilia marking the development of the Dakotas.
- Higbie Hall
Higbie Hall is a coed dorm. Higbie can house 150 students.
- Trojan Center
Trojan Center is the home of the Student Services Center, Student Organizations, Dining Services, the Market Place, Myxers Lounge, Disability Services, Diversity Services and the DSU Bookstore.
- Zimmermann Hall
Zimmermann is the smallest of the residence halls with a capacity of 124. It houses one floor of males and one floor of females.
- Heston Hall
Heston Hall houses the President's Office, Office of Academic Affairs, Enrollment Services, Admission, Assessment Office, Business Office, Career and Placement Services, Financial Aid, Graduate Office, Human Resources, Production Center, Registrar's Office, and the Veteran's Office.
- Emry Hall
Emry Hall is named for a former professor, Dr. June Emry. It houses 154 female students on four floors.
- Richardson Hall
Richardson Hall is located on the east end of campus and is an all-male residence hall.
- Lowry Hall
Lowry houses the Computing Services, E-Communications and the K-12 Data Center.
- Tunheim Classroom Building
The Tunheim Classroom Building (TCB) has a large auditorium, two interactive video (DDN) conferencing rooms, a multimedia lab, an information assurance lab, an audio lab, and a video lab. The TCB is also home to Extended Programs.
- Beadle Hall
Beadle Hall houses the College of Arts and Sciences, Liberal Arts. It is named after a former Dakota State University president, General William Henry Harrison Beadle.
- Kennedy Center
The Kennedy Center houses the College of Education.
- East Hall
East Hall houses the College of Computer Information Systems and the Center of Excellence in Computer Information Systems.
