Alternative Loan Information

Please complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov/ New Window BEFORE applying for an alternative education loan. Federal loans usually have lower interest rates and may have no interest accumulation (Subsidized) while you are in school. Certain career fields also have forgiveness or cancellation options for eligible borrowers for Federal loans, which are not available for alternative loans. You may also be eligible for grants that do not have to repaid, or work study. Alternative loans are meant to supplement Federal financial aid and personal resources.

The DSU Financial Aid Office has prepared this list of private alternative loan programs which have provided private loans to DSU students within the last 5 years.  This is not an all-inclusive list of available alternative loan programs. Programs are subject to change without notice. Please contact the loan sponsors for further information.  The link below will take you to information provided by Great Lakes Educational Loan Services, Inc.  Please read the information carefully to make an informed decision on student loan borrowing.
