DSU Scholarships with Additional Eligibility Criteria

Some of the scholarships below require additional scholarship application for consideration.

Additional Eligibility Criteria DSU Scholarship Application - The DSU Additional Eligibility Application form is due March 22, 2013.

Arleen Amert Annual Scholarship

Open to a current working mother or a working mother prior to enrolling as a full-time student, minimum of a 2.5 cumulative GPA, pursuing a degree in a business or related major.


Diversity Student Union DSU2 Annual Scholarship

Open to a minority student, enrolled full-time in a four-year degree at DSU,a U.S. Citizen in good academic standing,and with demonstrated financial need.


Laurie Dennis Graduate Endowed Scholarship

Open to a graduate student with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or International student in the upper 2nd division, who has financial need. It may be renewed based on continued financial need.


Freedom Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Open to continuing students with first preference to Veterans and second preference to students serving in the military.


Federated Insurance Annual Scholarship

Open to Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors majoring in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Management Information Systems with academic excellence. 


SD Bankers Association Annual Scholarship

Open to an incoming graduate student majoring in Information Assurance. Must be a resident of South Dakota.


SD Health Information Management Association Annual Scholarship

Open to continuing members of the DSU HIM Club with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Recipients are selected by the SDHIMA. Contact advisor of the DSU HIM Club.


Joseph and Denise Kane Annual Scholarship

Open to a minority student, enrolled full-time main campus in a four-year degree at DSU, in good academic standing,and with demonstrated financial need.


Independent Community Bankers of SD Annual Scholarship

Open to current graduate students majoring in Information Assurance. Must be a resident of South Dakota.


DSU Lynn Ryan International Club Endowed Scholarship

Open to any full-time continuing international student, 3.0 GPA or higher, not receiving any other scholarship. If the DSU International Club exists then a paid member is given preference.


Kappa Sigma Iota Annual Scholarship

Open to any member of KSI honor society. Selection is done by the organization. Contact the Kappa Sigma Iota advisor.


Ruth Krueger Memorial/KSI Endowed Scholarship

Open to any Kappa Sigma Iota honor society member with financial need. Selection is done by the organization. Contact eh Kappa Sigma Iota advisor.


Lewis Drugs Inc. Endowed Scholarship

Open to first a Lewis Drugs Incorporated student who is a SD resident or a SD resident and member of DSU Women's basketball team, or student with an ACT composite score 24 and cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at minimum of a 3.0. May be renewed by maintaining a 3.0 minimum GPA.


Judith M. Payne Single Parent Annual Scholarship

Open to a single parent attending or planning to attend DSU with a 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA. Contact scholarships@dsu.edu for more information.


Dave Prohl Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Open to students who demonstrates financial hardship because of illness experienced personally or in their family that impacts the families ability to pay for the student's education at DSU. Contact scholarships@dsu.edu for more information.


SD Society for Respiratory Care Annual Scholarship

Open to continuing students majoring in Respiratory Care with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Must be a member of AARC. Based on financial need, reference, and academic performance. Recipients selected by SDSRC.

For Juniors or Seniors


ARAMARK Annual Scholarship

Open to junior or senior students living in the residential halls or campus housing, majoring in business with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2. ARAMARK is the DSU Food Service Provider.


Allen Brashier Endowed Scholarship

Open to students accepted to Teacher Education for K-8 Grades with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA from Lake County or adjacent counties with leadership qualities.


Richard and Elizabeth Bortnem Endowed Scholarship

Open to education majors after completing 2 years at DSU. Preference to Elementary Education students with financial need. A written statement is required on why the applicant is deserving. Contact scholarships@dsu.edu for more information.

For Non-Traditional Students


Richard & Eunice Hinkley Endowed Scholarship

Open to any non-traditional student with a 3.0 GPA or higher and financial need. May be renewable.


Dr. Kenneth Brown Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Open to any non-traditional Junior or Senior with a major in the College of Business & Information Systems.
