Doctor of Science (D.Sc. IS) in Information Systems

dsisThe Doctor of Science (D.Sc. IS) in Information Systems is designed to prepare individuals for careers in research, teaching, and corporate employment. This program emphasizes applied scholarship, focusing on multi-disciplinary research projects with a strong emphasis on the productive application of information systems and information technology to organizations and their management.

The program supports a thriving and sustained applied research program that meets the research needs of the State of South Dakota, the university, and its graduate students. The degree program is intended to produce graduates with a commanding knowledge of information systems and of applications and research in information systems.

Master of Science in Educational Technology

msetThe Master of Science in Educational Technology (MSET) is an instructional technology program designed to meet the rapidly increasing demand for educators who are trained to integrate computer technologies into the curriculum and instruction.

As computers and technology have become a significant part of the teaching and learning process, addressing the information needs of teachers has become the key to integrating technology into the classroom and increasing student learning.

Master of Science in Information Assurance

msiaThe Master of Science in Information Assurance (MSIA) prepares graduates to protect an organization’s information assets. It educates graduates in advanced technology, security and implementation issues. Specializations include Banking and Financial Security, Wireless and Networking Security (on-campus residency requirement), and Internet and E-commerce.

There is an acute shortage of properly prepared security professionals who can meet the needs of organizations and governments to understand, prepare for, respond to, and recover from cyber attacks at all levels.

Master of Science in Information Systems

msisThe Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) is an advanced degree that combines the technical foundations of computer science with key business concepts and applications. MSIS coursework focuses on the integration of information technology with business problems and opportunities, enabling information systems professionals to understand technological issues as well as business concepts and fundamentals.

The MSIS, while still offering a business application orientation, is substantially more technical than an MBA with an information systems concentration. MBA programs are designed to expose students to a common body of knowledge in basic business disciplines and functions.
