The Seasons of South Dakota
Western South Dakota is known to have a humid continental climate—hot, humid summers and cold, dry winters. Be prepared to fully experience each season in your new home. The summer months (June-August) average temperatures of 80-90 degrees Fahrenheit (26-32 degrees Celsius) and the winter months (December-February) average temperatures of 20-30 degrees Fahrenheit (-6-0 degrees Celsius). Average total snowfall is approximately 40 inches per winter season. The beautiful South Dakota landscape allows many outdoor activities for each season. Camping, boating and fishing during the summer, snow-shoeing, skiing, and ice fishing in the winter.
