Bachelor of Science in Professional and Technical Communication

The Bachelor of Science in Professional and Technical Communication is a multidisciplinary major, combining courses in rhetoric, writing, communication, and digital arts and design. The program provides graduates with the skills necessary to prepare and disseminate professional, scientific, and technical information to a variety of audiences in a variety of workplace settings and in a variety of media.

Graduates with this degree can enter the job market as writers for software companies or publication departments in local, regional, and national companies.

This program uses a case-based approach in which students apply a problem solving approach to create documents that meet the needs of clients and specific work-place purposes and audiences. Students also receive extensive practice working with actual clients and readers, and in testing documents in a new Usability Testing Lab.
