College Portrait aids DSU in Providing Information to Prospective Students
Dakota State University (DSU) has joined with other South Dakota public universities to provide prospective college students with an information tool to use when making their higher education choices.
Prospective students can find that tool on the DSU website through a link to College Portrait. College Portrait provides information to students, families, the general public, policy makers, campus faculty and staff, and others. The information is presented in a form that is consistent so users can make comparisons of the participating colleges and universities.
Dakota State Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Cecelia Wittmayer says College Portrait is intended to provide families with standard pieces of information that they can use as they move through the college selection process with their high school student. “Much of the information on the College Portrait is already available from the University – in its college catalog or in its recruitment materials or on its website. But, the College Portrait does an exceptional job of presenting that information in a standard, easy-to-follow format, so that families are comparing apples to apples when they investigate college choices.”
The College Portrait project is a joint partnership between the America Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) and the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges (NASULGC.) Dakota State joined the project in January 2008 as part of a system initiative from the South Dakota Board of Regents.
