Dakota State Sets Fall Enrollment Record
Dakota State University officials released record enrollment numbers for Fall 2009 today (Thursday.) The student head count at DSU rose from 2,780 students in 2008 to 2,861, an increase of 2.91%. In addition to this increase in headcount numbers, the full time equivalent (FTE) enrollment increased from 1,556.6 to 1,631.5 for an increase of 4.81% and the undergraduate headcount grew from 2,371 to 2,598 for an increase of 9.57%.
Dakota State President Dr. Doug Knowlton reacted to the increase with this statement: “DSU continues to grow and to see solid response from students to our new programs and the recognition that preparation in information technology is a key to career success no matter what the field of study. These continuing enrollment records and our regional and national recognitions are signs of the vitality and the dynamic nature of Dakota State. Everyone at DSU works very hard to insure the success of our students and these enrollment increases continue to reflect that effort. “
DSU’s enrollment increase is part of a 12-year trend of increased enrollments for the state’s public universities.
Enrollment figures for the six public universities in South Dakota were released today from Pierre.
