DSU Partners with University Center for Honor Flight Fundraiser
Dakota State University is partnering with the University Center to raise money for the Honor Flight South Dakota Program.
The Honor Flight South Dakota program sends World War II veterans and their escorts on an overnight trip by chartered aircraft from South Dakota to Washington, D.C., to see the WWII Memorial. The approximate cost for each veteran is $750, with the escorts paying their own way. The Honor Flight is funded through private donations and to date there are over 700 South Dakota veterans signed up to take the flight.
State employees are working in teams to raise money for the Honor Flight Program. Dakota State is teamed with the University Center. To help raise funds, a University Center staff member has donated a pair of lower-level-seat tickets to the Minnesota Vikings preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The game will be at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, August 21.
Staff from DSU and the University Center will be selling raffle tickets for the Vikings tickets through June 30. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20 and will be available from the DSU Business Office or the DSU President's Office. The winner will be drawn July 1. All proceeds from the tickets sales will go to the Honor Flight Program.
Other donations to the program can be made to the DSU Business Office or the DSU President's Office. For more information, contact Gina Peak at 605-256-5647.
