Head Volleyball Coach Named at DSU

Dakota State University Athletics announces the hiring of Amy Veenhof as Head Volleyball Coach. Veenhof has been the assistant volleyball coach at Northern State University since 2005.

Prior to Northern, Veenhof was the head volleyball coach at Si Tanka University in Huron. Along with her coaching duties at Northern, Veenhof worked with area high school athletes for club play and volleyball camps. She is the assistant compliance officer at NSU where she monitors NCAA rules and regulations and monitors student-athlete eligibility.

"I am very excited for the opportunity to coach at Dakota State University," said Veenhof. "After meeting with various people at the school and being on campus I feel that Dakota State is going to be an excellent fit for me. I'm excited for the challenge of getting the Dakota State volleyball program back up to the top of the Dakota Athletic Conference because I am confident that is where we belong."

Veenhof is a graduate of Si Tanka University with a degree in elementary education. She will graduate from NSU in December 2009 with a masters degree in education, teaching and learning with an emphasis in health, physical education and coaching.

A student athlete at Si Tanka, Veenhof was an Academic All-American volleyball and softball player. Veenhof takes over the volleyball coaching position from Cindy Henning who resigned earlier this year.
