Dakota State University enrollment tops 3,100 students
New enrollment record for DSU
Fall enrollment numbers released today (Tuesday) by Dakota State University officials set a new record for the university with a student head count of 3,101. The number is up 9%, from 2,861 in 2009.
The record setting enrollment growth continues a decade-long upward trend for Dakota State. The 2010 number reflects a 72% enrollment increase since 2000 when enrollment reached 1,801.
"This year's enrollment growth is extraordinary for several reasons," said DSU President Dr. Doug Knowlton. "First, it is a record enrollment and the first time over 3,000 students. Second, the increases are across the board, new first year students, graduate students, on-campus students and distance students. This pattern of growth reflects the continuing recognition of the exceptional educational experience here at Dakota State in a variety of unique majors that prepare students for this new knowledge and information based world we live in."
Enrollment figures for the six public universities in South Dakota were released today from Pierre.
