DSU Alumnus Canfield Convocation Speaker
Dakota State University will hold Spring Convocation, Tuesday, March 2 at 11:00am at the Dakota Prairie Playhouse. Convocation is open to the public.
The featured speaker for convocation will be Dakota State alumnus Larry Canfield. Canfield founded Canfield Business Interiors in 1983, beginning what was to become Canfield Companies, an integrated suite of companies offering workspace planning services, furniture procurement, modular interiors, commercial sound services, and moving and storage services, to clients across South Dakota and the nation.
Canfield graduated from Dakota State in 1974 with a bachelor's degree in business and economics. Prior to coming to Dakota State, he served two years in the United States Army, and owned two retail businesses in Sioux Falls.
Canfield's professional career includes over thirty years experience in facility management, project management, interior construction consulting, and real estate development. In 1990, he expanded the Canfield Companies capabilities to include Commercial Audio and Video, LLC, a regional Muzak provider. CAV also offers commercial audio systems design, digital messaging and installation, satellite communications, and office acoustics. In 2006, Canfield expanded into Portable on Demand Storage (PODS) to create a new way to move and store materials.
Canfield is a Certified Sales Executive with Sales and Marketing Executives, a Dale Carnegie graduate, and a licensed real estate agent. He is a founding member of Sioux Falls Green Project, a member of the Sioux Falls Catholic School Development Committee, and a member of Rotary International. Canfield is also past president of the Sales and Marketing Executives International of Sioux Falls, past president of Sioux Falls Catholic Schools, past president of Christ the King School Board, and a past YMCA volunteer.
Currently, Canfield is a national co-chair for DSU 2.0, The Capital Campaign, and is past president of the Dakota State University Foundation Board of Trustees.
