AAUW and WIST Mark Equal Pay Day
The Madison chapter of American Association of University Women (AAUW) and Dakota State University's Women in Science and Technology (WIST) will be marking Equal Pay Day April 20 on the DSU campus. The day is organized to call attention to pay inequities.
The groups will gather in the Trojan Center over the noon hour for a group photo. They will also be showing the video Why so Few? which reports on AAUW research into why more women do not go into science and technology. DSU faculty member Nancy Moose will give a presentation on pay inequities.
WIST students will hold a bake sale featuring what they are labeling a 'women's discount'. Women will pay 23% less for their items in recognition of the 23% less they make in pay. Information on pay inequities will be available at the bake sale tables.
The AAUW website has cards to send to commemorate Equal Pay Day: http://capwiz.com/aauw/issues/alert/?alertid=14912986.
