Wells Fargo Donates to Dakota State University
Wells Fargo announced it will donate $3,000 to Dakota State University's Champion Scholarship Program. Champion Scholarships provide financial assistance to students who have scored 21 or higher on the ACT college entrance test.
"Dakota State University is an outstanding institution," said Ed Fiegen, Community Banking president for Wells Fargo in Madison. "It is committed to teaching its students valuable skills and core values such as community involvement, leadership and service. At Wells Fargo, we believe we're only as successful as the communities we serve, so we are committed to providing the resources that our communities, our educational institutions, and our students need to grow and prosper."
Judy Payne, Vice President for University Advancement, expressed gratitude to Ed Fiegen and Wells Fargo for their ongoing support of Dakota State and the Champion Scholarship Program. "We know highly talented students can choose to go anywhere for college. We want them to choose DSU," says Payne. "The support from Wells Fargo and other Champion Scholarship donors makes it possible for us to attract those top students, and to retain them once they get to campus."
Champion Scholarships are funded through private donors, and the program has continued to grow since its inception in 2003. Payne says this makes the need for new and sustained donors to the program critical. "The scholarship program continues to grow exponentially, and while we are encouraged by what that means to the university, it does stretch our scholarship funding and underscores our need for Champion donors." One more reason, says Payne, that DSU is thankful for Champion Scholarship supporters like Wells Fargo.
