HealthPOINT Selects SpectraMD
Madison, South Dakota (August 31, 2011) — HealthPOINT, South Dakota’s Regional Extension Center announced today its selection of SpectraMD as their Meaningful Use vendor solution for small and independent healthcare providers in the state.
SpectraMD, a Princeton, N.J.-based company, provides its Interactive Content Delivery and Analytics Platform, a Software as a Service (SaaS) product, to streamline the delivery of meaningful use compliance, practice assessment and provider education services. HealthPOINT selected the online platform as an effective education portal and technical guidance resource so providers can successfully adopt and transition to EHR systems.
“SpectraMD is delighted to have the opportunity to assist HealthPOINT in advancing the quality of healthcare in South Dakota,” says Raj Lakhanpal, MD, FRCS, FACEP, and CEO of SpectraMD. “As a provider-led organization with deep experience in providing data analytics, EHR adoption and meaningful use compliance solutions, we are strongly positioned to support the needs of HealthPOINT as it facilitates meaningful use among its provider population.”
HealthPOINT also announced today its Priority Partnership Program to further healthcare providers with limited resources. The new program allows providers free membership and services on a limited basis so they can start their electronic health record transition. Using SpectraMD’s solution as a central part of that no cost membership, HealthPOINT is optimistic the program will answer many needs across South Dakota. HealthPOINT’s enrolled providers will access these aspects of SpectraMD’s Interactive Content Delivery and Analytics Platform:
- The Meaningful Use Meter, an application that tracks compliance, recommends remediation actions and displays dashboards
- Meaningful Use Assessment Programs, which analyze practices’ EHR transition status
- Provider and Practice CME Programs, AAFP-accredited education covering all aspects of
EHR adoption, compliance, privacy and security
Over 500 physicians and 2000 healthcare professionals are already working with HealthPOINT, the Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center (REC) based at Dakota State University’s Center for the Advancement in Health IT (CAHIT). In just 16 months, HealthPOINT has built a non-profit and self-sustainable education, outreach, and direct technical assistance partner for rural healthcare in South Dakota. HealthPOINT’s expert Health IT professionals are located throughout the state and have traveled over 20,000 miles from Bowdle to Wall and over 50 communities in between to provide more than 8,000 hours of expertise that small South Dakota clinics and hospitals could not normally find nor afford. The collaboration with SpectraMD is yet another service HealthPOINT provides to help every provider becoming meaningful users of an electronic health record.
The SpectraMD platform will enable providers to ensure a sustainable business model by updating to meaningful use Stages 2 and 3. It will also incorporate future tools to facilitate receiving incentives for pay-for-performance programs and to support the transition to medical home and other accountable care settings, according to the company.
“HealthPOINT’s mission is to facilitate widespread EHR adoption and meaningful use compliance among physicians and other eligible providers,” says Dan Friedrich, HealthPOINT director. “SpectraMD’s online analytic platform will be instrumental in helping HealthPOINT’s enrolled providers understand the value of meaningful use and to achieve Stage 1 clinical quality criteria.”
