Kruggel nationally recognized for athletic accomplishment
DSU senior, Stephanie Kruggel, collected her 1000th career kill on Saturday, Oct. 22 in a four-set win over Oklahoma Wesleyan. The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) noted Kruggel's accomplishment in their national weekly report and the Association of Independent Institutions (AII) named her Female Athlete of the week.
Kruggel displays impressive statistics on and off the volleyball court. She currently ranks 11th in the nation for total kills with 420 on the year, and 36th in the nation for kills per set (3.6). Kruggel was recognized as a DAC Scholar Athlete the past three years and was named a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete for the 2010-2011 season. To receive this honor, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and achieve at least junior academic status to qualify.
Kruggel majors in Elementary Education at Dakota State and is the daughter of Gary and Lori Kruggel from Winthrop, Minn.
