DSU Posts Another Record Enrollment for Fall
Dakota State University released another year of record enrollment numbers for Fall 2011 today (Tuesday, September 27th). Despite the SD Public University System posting a 0.92 percent decrease in enrollment, student headcount at DSU held steady from last year, increasing from 3,101 to 3,102. Total full-time equivalent (FTE) enrollment increased from 1,708.0 to 1,746.1, a 2.23 percent increase from Fall 2010. The state system over all reported a 0.35 percent gain in FTE.
"After a very large 8 percent increase in headcount enrollment last year we are pleased that we maintained that growth and saw significant growth in our full-time equivalency (FTE) enrollment," stated Dr. Doug Knowlton, Dakota State President. "Both of these are actually records for our institution and with the limited and focused programs at DSU our enrollment and growth is very positive. DSU has also experienced a significant increase in transfer students (approximately 15 percent) and this means that our efforts to reach out to students who are relocating or coming back to school have been successful. We will be launching a major media campaign in October to attract students to our information technology focused programs as the jobs available to our graduates are now exceeding the availability of students."
Enrollment figures were released for the six public universities today from Pierre.
