Dakota English Language Institute offers intensive English program

The DSU Dakota English Language Institute (DELI) is offering an intensive English as a Second Language 9 week program this summer from May 29th through July 27th. The program is intended for international students wishing to enroll in a degree program or work on their academic English skills.

The DELI has been teaching English to international students for 20 years and is known for its small class sizes and individual attention offered to students. “This ESL program is very helpful for me because I couldn’t speak English before, but now I can, because of this program,” stated Prisca Kumbumba Pombonsi, who is originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

There are beginner to advanced level courses available with each level offering more than 4 individual courses: reading, writing, listening and speaking, TOEFL preparation and Grammar and America Cultural. The program also allows international students to become accustomed to a college campus while learning English to ensure a smooth transition into a degree program.  Upon admission to Dakota State University and satisfactory progression and work in the DELI, students may be eligible to take an academic course while continuing to learn the English language.
