DSU Faculty Exhibit Artwork and Present at SDCAA

Thomas Jones, Angela Behrends, Linn Nelson, and Cassie Edwards, all faculty members in the College of Arts and Sciences at Dakota State, are currently exhibiting artwork in the Ritz Gallery on the South Dakota State University Campus in Brookings, S.D., as a part of a month-long exhibition that coincides with the annual South Dakota College Art Association Conference (SDCAA).  The exhibit features art from faculty in higher education across the state.  The exhibition runs from Sept.  17th through Oct. 19th.  There will be a closing reception for the artists on Oct. 18th from 4:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.

The SDCAA meeting takes place annually and gives faculty members within the state an opportunity to come together to discuss issues of teaching, scholarship and professional standards affecting the arts, design and faculty in higher education.  Equally important is the opportunity to meet colleagues from other institutions and create a cadre of teaching professionals and friendships.

In addition to exhibiting artwork, faculty member Cassie Edwards will also be giving a presentation titled, “The Basics of Social Media for Artists and Educators.”  The presentation will introduce and provide innovative ways to embrace social media as a means to stay connected, discover new art, promote our artwork, and give students a more comprehensive educational experience.

If you are interested in attending, there is a RSVP deadline of Oct. 5th, 2012 – e-mail your RSVP’s to Beverly French:  beverly.french@sdstate.edu

There is a $20 registration fee per person that will be collected the first day of the conference.  It also covers entrance to all SoDak Animation Festival events which runs concurrently to the SDCAA conference.
