2012 DSU Royalty Crowned

The 2012 Dakota State University Homecoming King and Queen were crowned in a ceremony last night as part of the weeklong homecoming festivities.

The queen is Kelsey Feltman, a junior elementary education and special education major from De Smet, S.D. Feltman is the vice-president for DSU’s South Dakota Education Association, cheerleading captain and is a student ambassador. She is also a teaching assistant for GS100, a freshman orientation class at DSU.

John Niesen, a senior elementary education and special education major from Britton, S.D., was crowned king. Niesen is involved in student ambassadors, football and choir.

Candidates

Candidates for king included:

Dillon Bohlander is a junior management major from Britton, S.D. He is involved in Colleges Against Cancer and is a Resident Assistant in Zimmermann Hall. 

Jeffrey Trapp is a junior biology education major from Milbank S.D. He is a Resident Assistant in Zimmermann Hall, a student ambassador, and works for DSU Phone-a-Thon.

Zach Merrill is a senior network and system administration major from Pierre, S.D. He is a student apartment manager at the 8-plexes on campus and is president of Phi Beta Lambda Business Club.

Zac Woods is a junior biology education major from Cherokee, Iowa. He is on the student activities board, Emry/Richardson Hall council, and a member of the DSU football team.

Candidates for queen included:

Brandi Feldmann is a sophomore computer and network security and network and system administration major from Meadow Grove, Neb. She is in Student Senate, Colleges Against Cancer, student activities board, and president of the Emry/Richardson Hall Council.

Sara Irvine is sophomore exercise science major from Tea, S.D. She is the vice president of Student Senate and a Resident Assistant in Emry Hall.

Emily Hansen is a senior digital arts and design major from Wilmot, S.D. She is a member of the student activities board, president of student ambassadors, student coordinator for orientation, a tech fellow and participates in intramurals.

Audrey Hupf is a sophomore elementary education and special education major from Castlewood S.D. She is involved in Newman Club, Colleges Against Cancer, intramurals and is a Resident Assistant in Higbie Hall.

Feltman and Niesen will reign over a week of activities that culminate on Saturday, September 29 with the DSU Trojan football game at 4:00pm at Trojan Field.
