SIFE to hold fundraiser for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance after parade
The DSU Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) organization will be holding a Lazer Tag fundraiser for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), a part of Inter-Lakes Community Action Partnership (ICAP) on Saturday, Sept. 29th. The fundraiser will be at the Madison Community Center following the DSU Homecoming Parade. The cost for 20 minutes of lazer tag is $5 with all of the proceeds going to VITA.
The VITA program offers eligible tax filers in Lake, Moody, Miner, Hamlin, Kingsbury, Lincoln, Turner, McCook, Grant and Deuel counties the opportunity to meet with volunteers trained by the IRS to process their returns. Eligibility is based on household income of less than $49,000. All assistance is confidential and each participant receives copies of their return for record-keeping purposes.
The program is a partnership is between ICAP, DSU SIFE and the Northeast South Dakota Community Action Program.
