Boyte and Sattler named DSU student employees of the year
DSU students, Taylor Boyte and Lexy Sattler, were recently named 2012 Student Employees of the Year by DSU Career Services. Each student was awarded a $50 check. National Student Employee is this week, April 9th through April 13th.
Taylor Boyte, a senior biology for information systems major from Chester, S.D., received the off campus award. Boyte is employed as assistant manager, bartender and server at the Stadium Sports Grill in Madison, S.D. Ted Hosselkus, general manager of the Stadium Sports Grill, nominated Boyte for the award. “Taylor has proven to be an invaluable asset to the Stadium,” stated Hosselkus. “Taylor treats customers very well, and I am constantly getting positive feedback from people on his job performance, usually accompanied by something he did or said that gave them a laugh. We have several customers that come exclusively to see him.”
Lexy Sattler, a senior marketing major from Britton, SD, received the on-campus award. Sattler is an office assistant at the University Advancement office with duties that include communicating with clients, records management and assisting administrators in development, alumni, scholarships and fund raising. Sattler was nominated by Rosie Jamison, DSU Development Office for Scholarships and Endowments and Jona Schmidt, Alumni Director. “Lexy is an employee who is accountable for responsibilities and often exceeds expectations, instead of just doing tasks that are assigned,” said Jamison. “Foundation clients work with her without hesitation due to her maturity and knowledgeable responses with foundation related questions.”
Sattler was also eligible to take part in the state on-campus employee competition as well, which she also won. She received a $75 check and moved on to the national competition. DSU is a member of the Midwest Association of Student Employment Administrators (MASEA). Through the MASEA program students who are nominated for on-campus and state awards move on to the national competition.
