DSU is bringing the campus downtown
On Wednesday, April 10, Madison’s Egan Ave. will have a new occupant from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the former Radio Shack building located at 112 N. Egan Ave. Dakota State University is bringing the campus downtown to show Madison area residents what DSU has to offer the community.
To start the “DSU Downtown” event off, Einstein Brothers Bagels, the Trojan Mascot, DSU Bookstore, the Graduate Office, International Programs and Deans, faculty and staff from across the university will be present for the whole event.
Einstein’s, the newest Madison area bagel and coffee shop will be providing sample coffee and bagels, handing out coupons and holding a raffle during the event. From DSU emblazoned polos to Trojan key chains, the DSU Bookstore will be set up with all of the popular DSU apparel and gear for you to peruse.
You are invited to come and meet DSU President Dr. David Borofsky from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. and again from 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. and discuss what his plans are for DSU and building partnerships throughout the community.
“We are excited to be bringing DSU to downtown Madison,” says Dr. Borofsky. “Not only will we be happy to show the folks of Madison who we are, but it is part of our overall strategy to help make Madison a University Town. There is a lot to DSU and I encourage everyone to stop by anytime during the day to say hello.”
The DSU Athletes had a very successful year and would like to meet as many of the community members as possible and talk about the opportunities DSU offers to them and the community. They will be available from 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. and again from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
There are also opportunities throughout the day to attend short 20 minute technology workshops starting at 11 a.m. The topics of the workshops vary from creating Facebook and Twitter accounts to privacy online and online banking and security.
The “DSU Downtown” event is just one of the many activities taking place during the DSU Inauguration week. The public is invited to attend all events on the DSU campus during the week. The Inauguration of the 22nd president of DSU, Dr. David Borofsky, will be Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the Dakota Prairie Playhouse at 4 p.m. The reception will take place before the ceremony at 3 p.m.
