DSU Instructor Exhibits Paintings Nationally
Professional Artist and DSU Instructor, Cassie Marie Edwards, has been busy exhibiting her work both nationally and regionally. In the last three months she has exhibited her paintings in solo and juried exhibitions in Los Angeles, Chicago, Las Vegas, and Sioux Falls. The paintings she exhibits are hyper-realistic paintings of small ceramic figurines and hand constructed landscapes.
Her most recent solo exhibition in Las Vegas was reviewed in Las Vegas Weekly Magazine: http://www.lasvegasweekly.com/news/2012/nov/14/three-reasons-stop-emergency-arts-month----and-its/
Edwards says of her paintings, “My recent paintings explore boundaries. They float in the space between the genres of landscapes, portraiture, and still life. They engage in a conversation between high and low art. These works also explore the limits of representation – posing the question: How far-removed can a painting be before it ceases to represent the original subject?”
For a chance to see her paintings in person, attend the opening of her latest show on Friday, March 1st, at Ipso Gallery in Sioux Falls from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Ipso Gallery is located at 400 N Main Avenue, Suite 100. Food and refreshments will be served.
