New faculty this fall

Dakota State hired several new faculty for the 2013 academic year. A total of ten faculty have been hired in all three college departments. The dorms opened for new students on Friday, August 23, and classes began on Monday, August 26.  



Anthony Drealan, Instructor and Head Cross Country Coach, College of Education.  Anthony was the Assistant Cross Country and Track Coach at DSU for the past two years.  He completed his Master’s in Human Performance and Physical Education from Adam’s State University in June. 



Michael Ham, Instructor of Computer Science, College of Business & Information Systems.  Michael spent the last two years working in the consulting space as a Security Consultant/Penetration Tester.  He has a M.S. in Information Assurance, along with a B.S. in Computer and Network Security, and a Networking minor. 



Scott Klungseth, Senior Lecturer in Exercise Science, College of Education. Dr. Klungseth received his B.A.Ed. from Augustana College, his M.S.Ed from Northern State University, and his Ed.D. from the University of South Dakota. Klungseth comes to DSU from Augustana College in Sioux Falls where he has been a Visiting Professor of HPER.



Michael Lynch, Speech Instructor, College of Arts & Sciences. Lynch received his B.S. in Communications Media with focus on Organizational and Public Communication from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and his M.A. in Communication Studies with a concentration on Interpersonal Communication and Public Speaking from New Mexico State University. He comes to Dakota State University with experience in public speaking, public speaking instruction, and academic public relations.



Wayne Madsen, Assistant Professor of Digital Art and Design, College of Arts & Sciences. Madsen received his B.A. in Visual Arts and B.S. in Psychology from Brigham Young University and his M.F.A in Digital Arts from San Jose State University. He comes from Bowling Green State University where he was an instructor of Digital Arts and directed the MCaP Laboratory. 



Justin Peterson, Instructor of mathematics, College of Arts and Sciences.  He received a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from University of Northwestern, St. Paul and a M.A. of Mathematics from the University of South Dakota.  He has been been both an English and Math tutor in undergraduate work, and a graduate teaching assistant at University of South Dakota.



Nilo Ramos, Assistant Professor/Physical Education, College of Education.  Dr. Ramos was teaching at Southern Illinois University Carbondale while finishing his Ph.D. at the University of Georgia, before coming to Dakota State.



Kevin Smith, Instructor of Mathematics Education, College of Education.  Kevin is a former high school math teacher and graduate of DSU (1993).  He has spent the past 12 years designing and developing technology-based curriculum materials for K-12 teachers and students.  Most recently, he was a Learning Technologist with the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. 



Josh Stroschein, Instructor in the College of Business & Information Systems. Stroschein received his B.S. in Computer Science from the University of South Dakota, and his M.S. in Information Assurance from Dakota State University. He has been involved in application development in a variety of areas including business automation and ecommerce.



 Eric Stykel, Assistant Professor of Graphic Design. Stykel received his BFA from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and his MFA from the University of Minnesota Duluth. He comes from the University of Central Missouri where he taught graphic design.
