Jones wins 2nd place in Photography Exhibit
Recently, the Brookings Arts Council announced the winners of the 2013 Photography Exhibit. Dakota State University associate professor of art, Thomas Jones, won 2nd place in the black and white category with his photo, “Taxi.”
Friday, Jan. 25th, marked the closing for the 33rd Annual Photography Exhibit. This judged competition and exhibit was open to all South Dakota photographers 14 years of age and older.
Heather Kallhoff, Executive Director of the Brookings Arts Council, said, “We were thrilled to see the incredible photographic work that this event brings yearly. Our South Dakota photographers are so very talented and we are thrilled to showcase their photographic art to the public during the exhibit!”
Of the 38 entries, awards were given in color and black and white categories with 1st - 3rd place distinctions in each category. The winners are as follows:
People’s Choice - Foggy Day Pasque by Ralph Wamsher
1st Place B&W – Glorious Glad by Ralph Wamsher
2nd Place B&W – Taxi by Thomas Jones
3rd Place B&W – Army Days by Cynthia Strande
1st Place Color – Foggy Day Pasque by Ralph Wamsher
2nd Place Color – Getting the Point by Jerry Thoms
3rd Place Color – Ducky Love by Alex Flammond
Rod Evans from Sioux Falls was the judge for the event and presented the awards to the winners. Evans is a national award winner/speaker/educator and Canon Explorer of Light top 78 photographers in the world.
