Edwards exhibits artwork
Besides being an adjunct instructor in the College of Arts and Sciences at Dakota State University in Madison, S.D, Cassie Marie Edwards is also a busy artist. In fact, her artwork was recently featured as a 'recommended exhibit' for Arts Night in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Her solo exhibit, LAND/FORM, is currently on display at Greymatter Gallery in Milwaukee, Wisc. through August 30.
Alongside her solo exhibit, Edwards’ also has two group shows where she is displaying her artwork. More Than Friends is a group exhibit featuring 5 artists and is a celebration of IPSO/Fresh Produce's 10 year anniversary of being in business in Sioux Falls, and ‘Welcome Back,’ held at Exposure Gallery and Studios, which is an exhibit featuring 30 well known and emerging S.D. artists.
The Exposure Gallery is located in downtown Sioux Falls. It also houses affordable studio spaces for emerging artists and designers.
“I really like to support spaces like these because they can provide great opportunities for our Digital Art and Design alumni to start their own businesses in a fostering and supportive environment,” stated Edwards.
In her artist statement, Edwards explains that her artwork explores boundaries. Her paintings float between the genres of landscape, painting and still life. She paints hyper-realistic renderings of scenes she hand-constructs from tin foil, cotton balls, paper and plastic animal figurines.
