Parks Elected as Board Member of South Dakota Health Information Management Association
Linda Parks, Assistant Professor of Health Information Management (HIM) at Dakota State University, was elected to serve a three year term on the South Dakota Health Information Management Association (SDHIMA) Board of Directors as the Director of Education, starting July 1, 2014.
Parks will be responsible for ensuring attractive educational offerings are available for members of the SDHIMA. She will also assist members in leading the transformation of the HIM field by advancing the analysis and use of data produced from electronic health records documented by healthcare professionals in S.D., which in turn, will advance the quality of patient care.
Parks stated, “I have always promoted the idea of lifelong learning, and that is what I can bring to the position of Director of Education.”
Founded in 1947, the SDHIMA is a component state association (CSA) of the American Health Information Management Association. The purpose of this association is to promote the art and science of health information management and to improve the quality of comprehensive health information service for the welfare of the public in the State of South Dakota.
SDHIMA is affiliated with the South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations (SDAHO), an association of hospitals, long term care facilities, and other healthcare professional groups. SDAHO, with offices in Sioux Falls, SD, provides clerical support and informational resources, as well as being actively involved in healthcare legislative and policy issues in S.D.
