Step Up Scholarship Program

Customers of Madison Municipal Utilities make the Step Up scholarship program possible by rounding their utility bills up to the nearest whole dollar, up to $11.88 annually. Any customer can easily opt to round up their bill by contacting the city at 256-7504. These rounded up dollars are given to the Madison Central Educational Foundation which in turn distributes the scholarships to qualifying students.  Eligible students are graduates of Madison High School who continue their education at Dakota State University.

The purpose of the Madison Educational Foundation is to promote, enhance and enable educational opportunities and school improvement activities in the Madison Central School District.  They offer opportunities for mini-grants to their educators and enrichment programs and other scholarships for their students.  They are a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization which allows individual donations to the Foundation to qualify as charitable giving and are therefore tax deductible.

These Madison High School graduates attending Dakota State University are recipients of the Step-Up City of Madison Scholarship in the 2014 spring semester.  Scholarship winners are:  Maria Aguirre, Caitlin Heffern, Ayson Jones,  Brendon Waldner and Chelsea Welbon.
