Dr. David B. Borofsky, President of Dakota State University
Dr. Borofsky served as Interim President of Dakota State University from February – October 2012 and was named the 22nd president of DSU as of November 1, 2012.
From 2009-2012, he served as Provost and Chief Academic Officer for Westwood College, a for-profit college with 18 ground locations in six states and an on-line campus. From 2004-2009, he served as President of Bates Technical College in Tacoma, Washington. Bates is a three-campus two-year degree granting college and is part of the 34 community and technical college system in Washington. Other academic experience includes four years with Colorado Mountain College, serving as dean and then vice president at its various locations in Colorado, and seven years as dean for Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Borofsky earned his B.S. in psychology and his M.Ed. in Guidance and Psychological Services from Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts. His Ed.D. in Educational Administration and Supervision is from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
He has been a member of several economic development boards and a member of the University of Washington Institute of Technology Advisory Committee. His community involvement also includes promotion of the arts, including serving as chair of the Tabor Opera House Restoration Project and the creator of the Leadville Arts Coalition, both in Leadville, Colorado. He is a past president of Rotary and has been a member of three different Chambers of Commerce.
He and his wife, Mady, reside in Madison, and have one grown daughter, Alexis.
