DSU Dining Services Myth Busters (FAQ)

You can only use your meal plan in the Marketplace.

Busted!  You can use your meal plan in the Marketplace, Java City, Bits 'n Bytes C-Store, Concessions and select vending machines.

Your meal plan carries over.

Plausible!  Your meal plan will carry over from Fall to Spring semester, but all funds need to be used by the end of Spring semester and are non-refundable.  A meal plan is required each semester regardless of the carry over balance.

I can get pizza, grille, and deli all day.

Confirmed!  Wraps & More is open from 11am-7:30pm.  Grille can be ordered from 11am-7:30pm.  Bene Pizza is readily available during lunch (11am-1pm) and dinner (5pm-7pm) periods and is made to order during the off peak times.  The average waiting time, depending on the item ordered is 10-15 minutes.

My meal plan will not last the whole semester.

Plausible!  Depending on your eating habits, your selected meal plan may not be enough for the semester.  All meal plans are designed fr the average college student who eats 2 meals a day/5 days a week on campus.  Use our budget sheet as a reference.

Once my meal plan is gone, I'll starve

Busted!  If your balance runs low, you can add Dining Dollars in any amount (minimum of $25, purchase $200 or more and receive a 10% bonus).

DSU Dining Services staff is friendly and open to my ideas.

Confirmed! We like to become your family away from home.  We love to hear feedback as to how we can improve your experience and implement your ideas when feasible.

I am charged tax twice.

Busted! Tax is collected when you purchase your meal plan.  This tax amount is kept separate in your account and is drawn from when you make a purchase.  You are only taxed once.

I can change my meal plan.

Confirmed! After checking your class, work, and study schedules, you may decide to switch to another plan.  Changes are accepted on or before the end of late registration.  Call 256-5146 or visit Student Services Center for any changes.

I can treat a friend by using my meal plan.

Confirmed! If you would like to treat a friend, you can use your Declining Balance Dollars.  You must be present with your student ID card.
