Penn to speak at annual DSU CQI event

March 28, 2016

Dakota State University’s annual Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) event is set for Wednesday, April 6 at 2:30 in the Habeger Science Center on the Madison, S.D. campus. In its 6th consecutive year at DSU, CQI Day is a time to celebrate the accomplishments of University faculty, staff and students for their efforts in improving activities and processes throughout campus.

The featured speaker of the event will be Jeremy D. Penn, Ph.D., Director of Student Affairs Assessment at North Dakota State University. Penn has worked in the assessment field for more than ten years. His previous positions include serving as the Director of Assessment and Testing at Oklahoma State University and also serving as a Program Assessment Coordinator at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. His presentation for this year’s CQI Day is titled “Don’t Listen to the Mustn’ts: Assessing the Unassessable.”

“In my many years working in assessment, I have seen first-hand the power of assessment to inform great discussions, to support efforts to improve programs and services, and to encourage student development and learning,” stated Penn. “Assessment works best when it comes out of a campus-wide commitment and I am thrilled to be joining DSU for this important event.”
