This unique camp experience introduces students to the skills and preparation needed for careers in intelligence and cyber security.

Get ready for the Cyber Espionage Camp! We can't wait for you to join us!

Camp activities will include a mix of live-action and online games, exercises, and in-person simulations played individually and in teams. T The camp is designed for high school students currently in grades 9-12. Campers will participate in hands-on learning sessions with DSU faculty and students from the Cyber Leadership and Intelligence major and industry professionals.

The Cyber Espionage Camp is financially supported by Dakota State’s Governors Cyber Academy and is offered in conjunction with the Cyber Leadership and Intelligence major at Dakota State University. Campers do not need any prior background in or experience with computers or world affairs. Computers will be provided for all campers to use during the camp sessions.

Dakota State’s Cyber Espionage Camp offers high schoolers a chance to examine how law enforcement, government officials, and spies operate in a cyber-enabled world. They work together in teams and small groups, with many opportunities to make new friends.

Activities

Experience the processes of intelligence gathering, password cracking, and forensic recovery.
Participate in the “Patient Zero” simulation where you determine your country’s economic, political, and religious profile and how that affects your decision-making in a national crisis.
Analyze the complexities of cybercrime, bank fraud, and social media manipulation through hands-on simulations and activities.

Play Diplomacy, a live-action, fast-paced game of international relations where you take on the role of head-of-state to negotiate with allies, outmaneuver enemies, and achieve your national objectives.

Attend a dinner party where everyone in attendance is a secret agent and you have to decide who’s working for whom while keeping national security data from falling into the wrong hands.

Where and when

Plan to arrive on the campus of Dakota State University in Madison, SD, mid-morning of June 24, 2024, and depart around lunch on June 26, 2024.

Coming from afar? If you fly into Sioux Falls (FSD) or arrive via Greyhound Bus, we'll provide transportation to and from the airport or bus station. For those campers driving to Madison, parking is free but camp staff will collect keys for the duration of the camp.

Lodging and meals will be provided on campus. All campers will be provided a dorm room with DSU students acting as camp counselors. Meals will be served in the University Dining Commons.
